Synopsis: multi-generational tale of women, their struggles, desires, and relationships with each other and home.

One-sentence review: beautiful story and prose that reminds us that we all have different struggles, internal and external, and all must choose our own ways to get through them.

Overall storytelling/structure: told from each of the women in the family, weaving time, place, and a little bit of magic together towards a hopeful end.

Writing style/prose: damn, this girl can write!

Characters: strong female protagonists, but all in their own ways. Well developed and easy to root for.

Mood: there are some heavy topics, violence, and general hardship faced in this novel. Not a light read, but quick and meaningful.
